Input Groups

Input groups are reusable sets of ingredients and process parameters that can be added to recipes as a single unit. They streamline recipe creation by bundling commonly used inputs together, reducing repetitive work and ensuring consistency across experiments.

Each input group can include:

  • A predefined mix of ingredients and/or process parameters
  • Pre-configured values that auto-populate when the group is added

Input groups are managed centrally and can be reused across multiple recipes and experiments, making it easy to standardize formulations and process conditions throughout your R&D process.

Creating New Input Groups

Input groups are created from the Input Groups listing page.

  • Select Inputs/Outputs → Input Groups from the navigation bar.
  • Click the Add Group button.
  • Enter a Group Name and click Save.
  • After saving, you’ll be taken to the input group page where you can:
    • Add notes to describe the group’s purpose.
    • Select the material families the group belongs to.
    • Configure whether the group should be shared across families.
    • Add inputs (ingredients and/or parameters) by clicking Change Inputs.
    • Set default values for each input in the group.

Adding Input Groups to a Recipe

Once input groups exist in your system, you can add them to recipes in the recipe view of an experiment. To add an input group to a recipe:

  1. Click Add Ingredients, Add Parameters, or Add Inputs (button text may vary).
  2. Choose how to add:
    • Search and add individually — Type a group name into the search field and select from the dropdown.
    • Add multiple at once:
      • Click More.
      • In the Groups tab, search or filter the listing and click + Add. Selected groups will appear in the Inputs to be Added panel.
      • Click Add Inputs to confirm.
