Update to Default Experiments for New Notebooks

To better support common workflows, we’re updating the default behavior when creating notebooks from the Enter pages. These changes aim to make the process of creating new notebooks faster and more intuitive by:

  • Defaulting to include all experiments in view
  • Enabling the Filter to Associated Experiments toggle

What’s changing

Previously, when creating a notebook from the Enter page, only the active experiment was pre-selected and the “Filter to Associated Experiment(s)” toggle was off by default. Users would have to click “Set All” to include all experiments in view.

With this update, all experiments in view will now be selected and the “Filter to Associated Experiment(s)” toggle will be enabled by default.

Why this matters

This change better aligns the platform with common user expectations: when multiple recipes are visible on the Enter page, users typically intend to include all of them in the new notebook.

It also lays the groundwork for upcoming improvements to plot templates and table templates, making it easier to preserve the structure and context of your data as you move from data entry into analysis and reporting.

Who it applies to

Going forward, all users will see the multi-select Experiments field pre-populated with all experiments currently in view.

However, the default behavior of the “Filter to Associated Experiments” toggle is controlled at the company level via the Platform Config tab on the Company-Wide Settings page. For existing users who have already interacted with this toggle, their previously selected preference will remain unchanged.
