To compare experiments side by side in a tabular view, Uncountable users can use the Compare feature. This functionality allows for a detailed and organized examination of multiple experiments, facilitating a more straightforward analysis process.
Using the Compare Page
To compare experiments, select the two or more from the Project Dashboard click Compare.
The Compare page is a read-only view of selected experiments displayed side by side in a table.
Action bar controls include:
- Recipes — Return to the recipe view for the selected experiments to review their ingredients and process parameters.
- Measurements — Open the measurements view for the selected experiments to review or enter test results.
- Display Settings — Choose which information appears in the comparison, such as replicates, mix steps, test samples, calculations, actual values, and recipe notes.
- Export — Export the comparison table.
- Save — Save the comparison to a notebook.
- Adjust Rows — Adjust the rows shown in the comparison table.
Compare Page Settings Options
The Options control in the action bar above the grid opens a dropdown with additional Compare tools.
- Set Experiments Viewed: Changes which experiments are displayed on the page.
- Sort Ascending/Descending: Orders the experiments alphabetically in ascending or descending order.
- Custom Sort: Manually sorts the order of the experiments.
- Show/Hide Rows: Selects which experiment parameters you’d like to display in the compare table.
- Show Full Conditions: Displays all condition parameters assigned to each output, including those set as table parameters on the recipe page.
- Set Active Spec: Sets a spec for the experiments in view.
- Display Ingredient Attributes: Selects ingredient attributes to include in the display as columns.
- Hide Categories: Hides input and output categories from the display.
- Show Specs Column: Displays a column with the spec details per output.
- Test Performance: Navigates to the Test Performance page to evaluate the displayed experiments against spec.
- Additional Display Settings: Provides the ability to further enable or hide information on replicates, mix steps, test samples, column calculations, actual values, and recipe notes, Compare vs Base Experiment, etc.
- Refresh Calculations: Refreshes and updates the calculations.
- Visualize Experiments: Navigates to the explore data page filtered down to just the selected experiments.
- Export to Powerpoint: Exports a clean table of the information displayed to Powerpoint.
- Import into Projects: Allows you to import the selected experiments to another project.
- Export View to XLSX: Exports the table of data to a data table in Excel.
- Tag Experiments: Adds tags to the selected experiments.
- Copy to Other Projects: Copies the some or all of the experiment data into a separate project.
Compare Page Display Settings
- Collapse Base Columns — Removes the leftmost header column to make more room for the experiment columns.
- Show Organization Columns — Adds an organization column to the comparison grid.
- Show Actuals — Adds an Actuals column for each experiment.
- Show Assigned Spec Columns — Displays the specs assigned to the experiments in separate columns.
- Show Expanded Ingredients Section — Adds an expanded ingredients section at the top of the page.
- Show Recipe Notes — Adds a recipe-notes row at the top of the page.
- Hide Output Metadata Indicators — Hides the metadata indicators associated with output rows.
- Freeze Header Columns — Keeps the header columns visible while you scroll horizontally.
- Vertical Recipe Names — Displays recipe names vertically instead of horizontally.
- Uniform Recipe Names — Applies a consistent display format to recipe names across the experiment columns.
- Expand Test Samples — Adds test-sample columns to the comparison.
- Expand Replicates — Shows replicates as separate columns or rows, depending on the Replicate Display Mode setting.
- Expand Mix Steps — Adds rows for mix steps.
- Expand Lots — Adds lot columns to the comparison.
- Replicate Display Mode — Chooses whether replicates appear as columns or rows, when applicable.
- Enable Compare vs Base Experiment — Highlights values that differ from the selected base experiment.
- Hide Identical Calculation Rows — Hides calculation rows whose values are identical across the experiments.
- Ignore Condition Parameters — Excludes selected condition parameters from the comparison.
- Show Row Statistics — Adds row statistics when they are available.
- Recipe column value source — Uses the default recipe value or a specific calculation as the value shown for each recipe in the comparison.
- Calculation Columns — Selects which calculation columns to include.
Additional display options are found within the column (experiment) and row (input/output) headers.
By clicking on the arrow beneath an experiment, you can select:
- More Details — Shows additional information about the selected experiment.
- Highlight Column — Visually emphasizes the experiment’s column so it is easier to track across the table.
- Enter Formulations — Opens the experiment’s formulation view, where you can review its ingredients and process parameters.
- Enter Measurements — Opens the experiment’s measurements view to review its recorded test results.
- Go to Predictions — Opens the Predictions page for the experiment to review its predicted results.
- Remove from View — Removes the experiment’s column from this comparison without deleting the experiment.
By clicking on the arrow next to an input or output, you can select:
- Calculation Details — Opens details for the selected calculation.
- Sort Ascending — Sorts the experiment columns from lowest to highest using the selected input or output values.
- Sort Descending — Sorts the experiment columns from highest to lowest using the selected input or output values.
- Hide Calculation from View — Hides the selected calculation row from the comparison without deleting its data.
- Show Color Scales — Applies color shading to the row’s values to make differences easier to spot.
- Highlight Row — Visually emphasizes the selected input or output row.
